Just In: Queen Camilla’s Daughter gives brutal warning to king Charles, to ‘leave family alone’ Over Affair With…

King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s affair came to light in the early Nineties when Andrew Morton’s tell-all book, which was based on the Princess’s firsthand account of her royal life, was published.

Diana: Her True Story hit shelves in June 1992 and exposed Camilla Parker Bowles as Charles’s mistress.

While the Royal Family had long been aware of the tension within the Prince and Princess of Wales’s marriage, according to royal author Tina Brown, members of the Parker Bowles family were more taken aback by the revelation.

In her book The Palace Papers, which was published in April 2022, Ms Brown claimed the news was especially surprising for Camilla’s teenage children: Tom and Laura Parker Bowles.

“The Morton revelations were doubly shocking to Tom, seventeen, at Eton, and Laura, fourteen, at a country boarding school,” wrote Ms Brown.

They had been less exposed than William and Harry to any disharmony between their parents. Camilla had to contend with the confusion and hurt of sensitive teenagers. Genial familiarity with the Prince of Wales’s involvement in their mother’s and father’s lives was now transformed from a source of pride to painful embarrassment.”

Ms Brown, former editor-in-chief of Tatler, Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, and the founding editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast, revealed Laura was particularly appalled by her mother’s affair.

The 14-year-old “felt protective of her father,” the author wrote. “She refused to give her mother the message when the Prince called to speak to her.

“Laura reportedly used to pick up an extension when they talked and would shout down the receiver, ‘Why don’t you stop calling Mummy and leave our family alone.

Having first met in the Seventies and having an on-off connection, Charles and Camilla rekindled their physical relationship in 1986, while they were both married to other people and raising their families.

Morton’s book put a spotlight on the affair and months later, in January 1993, an intimate conversation between Camilla and Charles was leaked, confirming the couple’s illicit relationship.

The Mirror published a transcript of the conversation, originally recorded in 1989, the details of which caused a huge scandal for the Royal family and allegedly led to the dissolution of Charles’s marriage to Diana, and Camilla’s marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles.
